The Miami Children's Museum (MCM) mission, a nonprofit educational institution 501 (c) (3), is to enrich the lives of children by growing a love of learning and allowing children to realize their highest potential. Visitors of all ages are encouraged to play, learn, imagine, and create together. MCM is dedicated to meeting the needs of all children in our multicultural community through interactive exhibitions and programmes. Play, learn, imagine, and create on Watson Island with 14 interactive exhibition galleries and two languages in the museum, as well as a daily program for the whole family. The Museum also offers seasonal camps and classes, special birthday party packages, and much more. Pick up a unique souvenir from the Kid Smart Educational Gift Shop, and have lunch at Subway. Admission is $20 for adults and children, $15 for Florida residents, and is free for MCM members and children under 12 months. The parking rate is $1 per hour, seven days a week.
Founded in 1983, the museum opens its current building on Watson Island for the public on September 7, 2003. The museum was originally named "Miami Youth Museum" and was originally located in two shopping malls, the Bakery Center in South Miami, and then moved to the Miracle Center in Coral Gables. An area of 56,500 square feet (5,250 m2), designed by Arquitectonica, includes 14 permanent galleries, a pre-school classroom, a parent/teacher Resource Center, a Kid Smart educational gift Shop, a 200-seat auditorium, and a Subway restaurant. The Museum offers hundreds of bilingual interactive exhibits; Courses and classes and learning materials relating to arts, culture, community and communication.
Year established: Museum Miami Children was founded as the Miami Youth Museum in 1983. In 2003, the Museum opened its current house, a 56,500-square-foot facility in Miami City. Today, we are recognized as one of the 10 largest children's museums in the country and the only children's museum in Miami-Dade County. Service Area: The Museum provides a direct interactive education experience to about 400,000 children and their families each year. We aim to cater to all children and families living in South Florida, embracing the diversity of our community. The Museum is also a major attraction for tourists coming to South Florida.
